Dream! (The one who is not like others) by Forough F. (Parts of a long poem)
I have dreamed that someone will come
I have dreamed of a red star
May I go blind
If I tell you a lie!
I have dreamed of that red star
When I was not asleep
Someone will come
Someone will come
Someone different
Someone better
The one who is not like others
Who is not like father
Who is not like her
Who is not like him
Who is not like mother
And who is like the one who should be
The one
Who is taller than all building constructors!
And whose face
Is brighter than all the religious saviors
The one
Who is not afraid of our landlord’s brother in his military uniform
How delightful is brightness!
How delightful is brightness!
And how much
I love all good things!
I am so small that I get lost in streets!
Why father who is not so small
And who is not get lost in streets
Doesn’t take any action?
And why people
Whose streets are covered with blood
And whose shoes are sunk in blood
Don’t take any action?
Why no one takes any action?
How lazy is the winter sun!

i spent a year in Iran 40 years ago and am now reviewing and going forward with the language. yesterday, i read up on ancient persian and discovered that the characters on the top of the home page are the ancient persian scrips, probable comissioned by Darius and that the present script was imposed by conqueorers. Concerning lesson 20. i would appreciate hearing the persian sample read as most of the others are. I am trying to memorize the poem in lesson 15. marsha francis
