Persian Poetry – Hello by Ali Salehi
This week, Persian poetry page presents Salehi
This poem is supposed to be a simple letter, although it seems go deeper than this in some sections. The writer begins with, ” We are all ok. Everything goes well here except our distant dream is lost, which is happiness, as people call it.” However, he admits that he is going to live in inner comfort if he is to live more. Then, he explains that one night he dreamed that he had bought a house with no curtains, no windows, no door, and no walls! And he makes it clear right after this that he has reached his forties! Still, he is quite optimistic about tomorrow, and by talking about a group of white doves that are flying over his house now, and through smelling the wind that is carrying the names of his acquaintances to him, he emphasizes on it. Nevertheless, he ends his letter by saying, ” We are all ok, but you don’t believe it!”
